So I wrote up my thoughts on EpVII and the EU and blogging the other day. As some of you may know, I've been kind of wavering about continuing blogging for a while - a long while - before all this broke.

Blogging is not something that's really hard for me - after all these years I can bust out a basic news post in 5-10 minutes, easy - but my enthusiasm was undeniably dropping. I have no fucks to give about The Clone Wars and the EU has been foundering and even fanfic - which has got me through many other dark periods - has been thin on the ground lately. The last Celebration helped a lot by having lots of news and generally not sucking for me but it was only a temporary boost. I mean, its hard to get really excited about something like Angry Birds Star Wars for more than a day or so, if that.

And mentioning Jedinet... Let me just say that I have NEVER ONCE REGRETTED leaving the fanboy industrial fandom complex - and choosing to stay out of it again when TFN came calling a few years back - than I am right now. I didn't start the blog to make CJ a giant fansite or become whatever they call BNFs these days (NOTHING. Because it peaked with Cassie Claire and killed the whole concept dead, right?) or to get free books or to stand up for lady fans or any of that - I started it because I thought 'Hey! A blog! That would be a fun way to liven up the CJ site and keep people informed!'

Ha ha.

The blog has... evolved, let's say. I don't know what's going to happen now, or in 2015, but I do know one thing - I have my enthusiasm back. I have something to look forward to that's more than more of the same. And that's something.

Now if only I could find the time and energy to work on a new template, because goddamn I hate the look of that thing.

(If you've been busy, here's all the CJ coverage.)

Here are a few things I'm already sick of:

1. It's going to destroy the EU! Okay, so I already addressed this. You know what? There's a lot of crap in the EU that deserves to go/be ignored. And sure, I'd like to see, say, Mara. But I don't expect it. I expect a clean slate, or something pretty damn near to it. Think otherwise? Write a fanfic or something. I don't want to hear it. (Or rather, I will be hearing it for the next 3 to 10 years. No matter what they do. Oye vey.)

2. George sold because he is sick/dying! Is it really so hard to believe that maybe the guy wants his retirement to actually be a retirement? Maybe he's just sick of Star Wars. Hell, I'm a fan, and I have days like that. And no one has ever screamed profanities about Jar Jar at me from the side of a street. (No, I don't know if that's really happened to him, but come on: It probably has.)

3. Lists of writers/directors. One had Wes Anderson on it, as a lark, and that amused me. But still. Yes, I know who Wes Anderson is and know enough to find the idea of him doing Star Wars funny, but I'm not a film scholar or anything like that, I have no horse in this race, mkay? I realize it's inevitable.

4. Casting existing EU characters, period. Also inevitable. Sigh.

5. HttE is going to be Episode 7! (YOU GUYS KNOW I HATE THAT.) Thankfully that one has pretty much been nipped in the bud now. The lists of EU crap people want to see on film not so much, but, well.

Thing I am hoping for: I want the Anakin/Luke character to be a girl. Maybe the BOW/Han, too. It's past time.

Though honestly, I haven't done much speculating. I have new plot bunnies, but that's a whole different thing and I refuse to let myself let them influence my thoughts on the actual movies. That way leads to being the person on the street screaming about Jar Jar.

And finally, I am apprehensive about what's going to go down with fansites and that whole aspect of fandom. The landscape we saw before and after the prequels was SO DIFFERENT, and I don't just mean the reaction to the PT. I've written 4 posts today AND IT'S FUCKING SATURDAY. ARGH. I still need to think on things and blah blah, but it's going to be.... Something. More sites, more blogs, more fanfic. More comments from people who have no idea what they're commenting on. I was starting to like our nice, quiet little place in fandom. Oh well.

If it gets to be too much, or if I end up hating the new movies anyway, I can always quit blogging and write fanfic instead, right? Right.

But overall these are all minor qualms, really. I've actually been fairly pleased with much of fandom, or maybe I've just whittled things down to the people I don't mind listening to.
